Regarding "Experts" Coming Out Of The Woodwork
As many of you already know from first hand experience, there are an increasing number of individuals coming forward who present themselves as experts on the subject of olive oil. We have received numerous phone calls from our customers regarding these individuals. In most cases the "expert" has reached out or solicited their services on some level. And it has come to our attention that many of these solicitors are mining your contact information from Tom Mueller's list of authentic olive oil purveyor's which can be found on his website.
Some of these so called experts refer to themselves as, "Olive Oil Savantes". Others bill themselves as consultants. However, very few if any have the breadth of experience, wholistic view, or cutting edge information that Veronica Foods offers. These paid consultants typically only support what they stand to be to be compensated for on some level. Most of these individuals are being "paid to play", and are simply mouthpieces for producers or trade organizations who's agenda is to label and sell olive oil as extra virgin regardless of authenticity, quality, or the consumer's best interest. This lack of altruism imperils the truth about olive oil and the greater good of the olive oil industry. It is at the very root of the overabundance of adulterated and mis-branded olive oils on the supermarket shelf and why Veronica Foods is developing new and verifiable standards and testing methods.
If you are having difficulty weeding out the charlatans, feel free to give us a call if you have been contacted by or are considering attending a tasting or "education" seminar. We know of a very small handful of trustworthy, altruistic individuals that we would recommend for education outside of our group at Veronica Foods. These entities share our vision and travel a similar path by offering unbiased, authentic, accurate, up to date education, and most will be attending and speaking at our Olive Oil Summit on the July 14th, 2012.
