Wanna Read Something Fantastic?

Here's a recent e-mail correspondence that Tom Mueller sent us between himself and a consumer.  Start off at the bottom, and read your way to the top.  Hope you enjoy!

Hi guys,

I read this and laughed out loud.  Then I thought of you both, because these people are converts to your cause.  This is a sample of the kind of email I get, by the hundreds, every month.  More and more and more piling up.  It's truly incredible.  Really does feel like a revolution in the making.  it also illustrates beautifully how, like a little water on an olive tree (or supply more appropriate plant here - I confess I'm obsessed) can bring out a gorgeous bloom, one small answer that I wrote to his first email brought out this truly poetic response.

So keep up the great work.  You're changing the world.

Cheers,
Tom

Since I wrote that note things have changed dramatically.  I took a 2 hour detour on the way home that night and stopped at a little shop in Frederick, MD. L.O.V.E. - Lebherz  Oil & Vinegar Emporium.  They helped me taste olive oil.  I brought home 4 bottles.

I had a ball.  At home I tasted that wonderful extra virgin olive oil (Pompeian) that I have so carefully picked from the super market low these past many years.  It tasted like the dust from the vacuum cleaner smells.

I also bought a signed copy of your book.

Now I know that there is a great difference in olive oils.

It has opened my eyes - that has happened on several occasions - wine, coffee and even work, when I realized that there were other types of engineers in the world and each had its own unique set of tools to work with.

This time though I became aware that here were differences in everything.  Most of us go through life living with the things we grew up with.  Few know that there is more out there and it could be better.

I owe this to you, not because you were the voice crying in the wilderness but because when my questions cropped up your voice was there to answer (I'm good at research).

Thank you.

Now that I know that there is another path in these woods.  I will need a guide.  I want to taste it all.  I will be telling others.

I live in Jarrettsville, Harford County, MD (a stones throw from Pennsylvania).  I work as a computer consultant, program manager, and acquisition professional for the Federal Government.

I will be asking questions.   I love that pepper tang in the back of my throat.  I don't really like the grass taste.  The butter taste from Australia is wonderful  - hey, I'm learning.

Peace,

E.

Helo Everette,

Thank you very much for your note, and delighted to hear you've joined the great olive oil revolution!

In order to answer your question properly, I'll need to know:  where in the US do you live?

All best,
Tom

Message Body:
I'm 68 years old.  My wife returned from a business trip in Germany and brough me a bottle of Olive Oil infused with Ginger by Alfons Schuhbeck. The second I opened the bottle my life changed a bit.  The aroma and taste were far beyond anything I had tasted before.  I love to cook.  I use a lot of olive oil and extra virgin olive oil. I can't get the oilve oil. It is not exportable to the US. I searched the Internet for ideas. I landed on your site.  I know now that there is a massive variety in oil tastes (without the infusion stuff). You say that there are a lot of pretenders out there and some false advertising. How do you begin? Who do you trust? EVOO is too expensive to do taste tests.
